'Smoked sausages and curry"

This spirit is a heavily peated and double distilled spirit from the most famous Campbeltown distillery. Its name comes from another Campbeltown distillery which closed in 1896, and may only be bottled without chill-filtration.

A refill butt has brought out a candied orange colour. The nose at full strenght is peaty, carbolic and medicinal with a hint of smoked sausage. The taste at this stage is of hot Indian curry, it has a hot oily mouthfeel. The peatyness remains with water and on the palate there is sweet pipe tobacco and a savoury spiciness. The finish is smooth and comfortable. This is a gentleman's whisky that is equally good with or without water

C V is a mix of different ages, mostly 6, 10 and 14 years old.

The Mitchells are Scotland’s oldest distilling family. Founded in 1828, on the site of
Archibald Mitchell’s illicit still, the Springbank Distillery is now under the stewardship
of his great great grandson, Hedley G. Wright (Chairman)

William Cadenhead Ltd is Scotland’s oldest independent bottler, having been founded
in 1842. Cadenhead’s became part of the J. & A. Mitchell family when it was purchased
in 1972.

Mitchell’s Glengyle Distillery was originally opened in 1872 by William Mitchell and then
closed in 1925. in 2000 the Chairman was able to purchase the distillery that belonged to
his great great uncle, and on 25th March 2004, spirit was once again distilled

This Longrow Red Single Malt has been matured for eleven years in Fresh Port casks
and only 9000 bottles at cask strength will be available worldwide.

As this whisky is not chill filtered a natural haze may form when
it is cold but this will disappear when the temperature returns to
normal

Springbank, which was licensed itself in 1828 – just four years after Ross built Longrow – began distilling heavily-peated spirit in 1973.

Longrow was first introduced by Springbank with a phenolic content of up to 50ppm. It was a mélange of ex-Bourbon and ex-Sherry-matured spirit that gained a fanatical following.

Since its introduction, Longrow has been released under a variety of ages and vintages, including the forerunner to the current Peated expression, the no-age-statement ‘CV’.

Longrow is a heavily-peated single malt made at Springbank distillery in Campbeltown, which also produces the Hazelburn and Springbank malts.

Longrow’s heavy, smoky character is thought to reflect the style produced in Campbeltown during its Victorian heyday. Its identifiable flavour is derived from the heavily-peated malted barley, but also from Springbank’s direct-fired wash still and slow cooling through the spirit still’s worm tub.

Its core range is comprised of three expressions: Peated, Red and 18-year-old. Longrow Red is finished in a different type of red wine cask each year, and bottled at cask strength.

As with all bottlings from Springbank distillery, Longrow is non-chill-filtered, free from added colour and bottled on site at 46% unless otherwise stated.
